WORKING FOREMAN
Duties include: Understanding the reasoning behind a project and its ultimate use and purpose before you actually start the work; full knowledge of plans, specs, submittals, and other project requirements; the ability to work well with our customers (typically the job superintendent or project manager) and yet be able to run a profitable project, such as procuring extra-charge work orders when necessary; being a strong leader of a concrete crew, including leading by example. Therefore it is imperative that you are self-motivated, conscientious, prompt, and well organized.
Must have experience in calculating quantities and accurately ordering materials such as concrete, sand, rock, rebar, and lumber; ordering inspections and testing; a high level of proficiency at establishing proper grades, slopes and lines (with laser and standard survey equipment); a high degree of expertise in form-setting for all aspects of light to heavy duty commercial concrete work, such as cast-in-place retaining walls, tilt up buildings, large slabs as well as standard flatwork, curbs gutters.
This position also requires experience with rebar and with rebar layout along with other kinds of reinforcing such as wire mesh and fiber mesh; layout and accurate installation of all types of bolts, weld plates, Simpson hardware and other imbeds. Pouring and placement of all types of concrete, including proper spreading and consolidation, accurate screeding and rodding, bull floating, Fresno troweling, and dealing with clean-up loads and cold joints; all aspects of concrete finishing, including proper timing, edging, jointing, use of trowel machines (walk behind and ride on), hard –trowel, sweat-finish, broom-finish, exposed aggregate, stamped, colored, and other decorative finishes; knowledge of curing compounds and blankets, sealers, coatings, caulking, and sacking/patching.
Necessary to operate machinery such as skiploader with scraper, skidsteer, loader, backhoe (optional), concrete saws, Soff-cut saws, jackhammers, rotohammers, grinders, compactors, and concrete pumps. Conducting of weekly tailgate safety meetings is required along with being in charge of your crew’s safety and OSHA compliance.
