APPRENTICE LEVEL CONCRETE FINISHERS / FORMSETTERS

Duties include: some experience in form–setting for sidewalks, building slabs, curbs and stemwalls (this would include some awareness of how to properly set grades and lines for drainage, straightness, etc.); some knowledge of setting foundation bolts and Simpson-type hardware; finishing concrete, both by hand, and (preferably) walk behind trowel machine; striking-off, rodding or screeding concrete; tamping concrete; vibrating concrete; properly stripping forms. At this stage you should be quite proficient with a shovel and concrete rake. In this company you will still be doing labor work as necessary.

  • Must be in good physical condition; able to kneel down on your     hands and knees for extended periods of time; lift 100 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have nail bags/tool apron with basic carpentry hand tools     and sledge hammer
  • Must have concrete finishing hand tools including trowels, floats,     hand edgers, jointer and sliders
  • Must pass a drug screening
